The boy pulled it out and then playfully pointed it at Tayco.
Thinking the gun was just a toy, the boy pulled the trigger, fatally hitting the victim in the chest.
Chief Inspector Ariel Acala, Calinan district police chief, said the incident happened inside the house of the boy's family along McArthur Highway around 8:30 p.m..
Acala said the incident was reported to the police station at past 10 p.m.
He said the boy has been referred to the police's Women and Children's Desk while his father is now being subjected to investigations.
Acala said the boy's father claims he just picked up the gun, but instead of surrendering it to the police, he decided to hide it in his room. -- Report from Francis Magbanua, ABS-CBN Southern Mindanao
