Eight baranggays in Sta. maria, Davao Del sur affect with unknown hog desease

PROVINCIAL VETERENARY OFFICE FOUND SYMPTOMS OF HOG CHOLERA IN DEATHS OF HOGS IN EIGHT BARANGGAY IN STA. MARIA, DAVAO DEL SUR.

STORY:
THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE IMMEDIATELY CREATED A COMPOSITE TEAM TO INVESTIGATE THE INCREASING NUMBER OF DEATHS AMONG HOGS IN STA. MARIA TOWN IN DAVAO DEL SUR.
AUTHORITIES FOUND SYMPTOMS OF HOG CHOLERA IN ONE OF THE SAMPLES TAKEN FROM A DYING SWINE IN SITIO DONA RINA, BARANGGAY BASIAWAN, STA. MARIA, DAVAO DEL SUR. FROM THE SAME SAMPLE, LIVESTOCK DIVISION ALSO FOUND PRESENCE OF BACTERIA.

IN A PHONE INTERVIEW WITH DR. NESTOR BARROGA, PROVINCIAL VETERENARIAN, THE COMPOSITE TEAM TENTATIVELY AND PRESUMPTIVELY DIAGNOSED A MIXED VIRAL AND BACTERIAL INFECTIONS AMONG HOGS IN THE AREA.

EIGHT BARANGGAYS IN STA. MARIA IS NOW UNDER SURVEILANCE AFTER CASES OF DYING HOGS WERE RECORDED SINCE DECEMBER LAST YEAR. AFFECTED BARANGGAYS ARE:
1. BUCA
2. PONGPONG
3. CADAATAN
4. POBLACION
5. SAN AGUSTIN
6. STO. NINO
7. BASIAWAN
8. MAMACAO

SAMPLES WERE IMMEDIATELY SENT TO ANIMAL DIAGNOSTIC CENTER FOR LABORATORY TEST TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF DEATHS.
MEDICINES AND ANTIBIOTICS WERE ALSO DISTRIBUTED TO AFFECTED BARANGGAYS FOR TREATMENT ACTIVITY.
