Jeepney slams into post in Davao City, 2 die, 22 injured

A jeepney full of passengers reported to be going to a burial of a dead relative slammed into a post Sunday killing its driver and a passenger and injuring 22 others. The accident occurred at Shrine Hills, Matina in Davao City Sunday morning. Reports said that jeepney was loaded with more than 30 passengers. They were reportedly going to Matanao in Davao del Sur to attend the burial of a dead kin. A traffic investigator said he suspects that the jeepney may have lost its brakes due to its full load at the top of Shrine Hills. He said that when it went down the driver may have lost control until it slammed into the post. Killed were Alejandro Jatico and sibling Leodigario who was seated beside him at the front. Seven of the 22 injured were reported to be children. Two were brought to an intensive care unit of a hospital after sustaining severe injuries on the head.
