Bigcas ready to face raps for Davao shootout
DAVAO CITY – Mindanao-based car dealer and alleged smuggler Lynard Allan Bigcas said on Wednesday that he is ready to face the consequences of his actions in relation to a shooting incident in Davao City.
Bigcas claimed he did not instigate the shootout with lawyer Miguel Palma Gil, saying the latter threatened him a day before the incident.
“Tinuro niya ako, sabi niya, ‘Ikaw ba si Allan Bigcas?’ Sabi niya, ‘Hindi mo ako kilala dito, pwede kitang patayin ngayon, pwede kita ipabugbog.’” said Bigcas.
Bigcas said he did not expect that he would cross paths with Palma Gil again.
Footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera taken last Sunday shows Bigcas firing a gun at Palma Gil at Mabini corner Torres Streets in Davao City.
“I saw a black bag tapos binubuksan niya. Sabi ko baril ‘yan. So kinuha ko na ‘yung baril ko. I heard the first shot. Tinumba ko ‘yung seat ko para hindi ako tamaan. Tapos may tatlong putok pa,” said Bigcas.
Bigcas may face charges of frustrated homicide, police said.
"Of course they will be filing a case against Bigcas pero sila na mag-file dahil may mga abogado naman sila," said Chief Inspector Angel Sumagaysay, deputy station commander of San Pedro police.
The Cagayan de Oro Philippine National Police, meanwhile, said Davao police have yet to coordinate with them on the incident.
Police suspect that Gil Palma, Bigcas, and Atty. Aimee Salisi Torrefranca are involved in a love triangle.
Torrefranca, reportedly a former girlfriend of Gil Palma, was with Bigcas at the time of the incident.
